About
Hi. My name’s Gedaly and I’m a wordaholic — I can’t live without wordahol. I’m also a verbivore, word-nerd, logophile, and other silly names. But mostly a logomaniac (OED definition: n. One who is insanely interested in words.) — I created a website about words… that’s enough to be considered “insanely interested,” right?
This site is a small shrine to the English language where I come to share with you the small joys that exist in the words we speak everyday but more-so the words we don’t.
You will find blurbs on fun words I find online or in life. Most of these are nonce-words, or words that are invented for their specific context and generally fail to be adopted into general usage. They are the underdogs of language. The words that keep you entertained when reading the dictionary. You do read the dictionary, don’t you?
More fun with words and language can be found by following this site’s Twitter feed. Just follow @onWords for plenty of logomania!
Special thanks to all the word lovers that have inspired me to write this blog, and extra thanks to the Oxford English Dictionary team for putting together a great resource which I am constantly gleaning for information.
If you like what you see here– and I hope you do — please tell your friends to come check out the site and learn new words with you!
